Shashi Sharma – Senior Woman Journalist

Shashi Sharma has been active in journalism since 1985, holding the distinction of being Uttarakhand's first female journalist.

For 36 years, starting in 1989, she rendered distinguished service to India's premier news agency, PTI. During this long tenure, she demonstrated the power of her writing on numerous significant occasions; notably, she spent two months in Tehri reporting positively on the Tehri Dam—which was then mired in controversy—and used her pen to help pave the way for its construction.

Currently, Mrs. Shashi Sharma runs the news portal *Newsok24.com* and serves as the editor of the weekly newspaper *Desh Nirdesh*; she is also a registered anchor and commentator for Delhi Doordarshan.
